Community Guidelines

• Use your own name and a photo of you (or none) — not a logo or someone else.
• List only places you own or are allowed to rent or share, with photos of that actual place.
• Show the full picture: rent, deposit, maintenance and any other charges, and house rules that matter (guests, food, pets, timings).
• Pause or remove a listing as soon as it's taken.
• One listing per place. Don't repost the same place to stay at the top.

Roomats is for owners and tenants dealing directly. Don't charge anyone a fee for an introduction, don't post on behalf of clients, and don't pose as an owner or tenant to find customers. If someone asks you for a brokerage fee, please report them.

• Keep messages about the place or the roommate search.
• No harassment, threats, sexual messages, hate speech or pressure. “No” or no reply is an answer — don't keep messaging someone who isn't interested.
• Say what you're looking for in terms of lifestyle and habits (food, smoking, schedules, guests) — never reject or single out people for their religion, caste, community, region, disability or similar.
• Don't share someone's contact details, messages or photos outside the conversation without their permission.

• Never pay before you've seen the place and met the person — not a token amount, not a “booking fee”, not to hold it for you.
• Be wary of prices far below the area, pressure to decide fast, or someone who can't show you the place.
• Meet first in a public place or bring someone along for a visit; tell a friend.
• Share your number only when you're comfortable — you can talk in Roomats messages until then.
• Get the rental agreement in writing, read it before signing, and keep receipts for anything you pay.
• Never share sign-in codes, bank details or ID documents in chat.

If a listing, profile or message breaks these guidelines, use Report on it. The person isn't told who reported them, and a member of our team reviews every report. Use Block to stop someone contacting you or seeing your profile and listings.

In an emergency, contact the police (112) first. For anything else, email support@roomats.com.

Depending on how serious it is, we may remove content, warn you, limit what you can do, or suspend or ban your account — see the Terms of Service. If you think we made a mistake, email support@roomats.com and we'll look again.
